Entry 010. Got forcefully put into rest
This will most likely be a short devlog. I am sick, eeverything hurts, and I know I'm already posting this too late but it is currnetly 11 pm and I have just now been able to sit in a chair for long enough for me to write something. Unfortunately, not many good things have happened, but I do have some updates.
UI Updates
The main menu now has a little Dulce being cute! It's a bit more simple than what I had originally planned, but I think it works for now :) Simple is good sometimes! It has a soft dreamy feeling that I really like.
Before I made the 3D menu, I was working simply on a Widget and I had to use a Niagara UI plugin. Although it worked well, I didn't get the exact feel that I wanted for the particles, so I'm happy with the way it looks here.
The pause menu is more cute now! I have to finish doing some art for it, but it's soooo much nicer to work with stuff when it's no longer filled with ugly placeholder assets.
I'm not sure I've shown the journal yet, but here's a little pic of it!

I will be moving around some things, but right now the journal serves as an instruction manual. My original idea was for the player to be able to gather more information and fill the pages, but I will have to put a pin on that and revisit it once I have more time. For now, you'll get the instructions and cute pictures. The journal logic is almost complete, you are able to unlock new pages and everything, I just need more time to work on the actual content of it.
I also updated the HUD, it's no longer just a bunch of plain progress bars.

My friend helped me make some of the ornament elements. I think I can still work more on it, but it looks really cute right now so it's not an urgent task. If you look closer, too, you may see that the trees look different. A friend helped me out with those!

Level Up
I have ordered to print little cards that send you to the game's page and the poster. I have my stickers ready! There are still some fixes and stuff that I need to get done, but I'm very excited about this. I can't wait to have more people play this game! By this Saturday, the first beta build will be available on itch.io for anyone to try it!
Literally Everything Else
The game almost committed sepukku.
I spent a whole day repairing and trying to fix it. Unreal Engine crashed before it even opened the project, and the crash report was not helpful at all and I almost also committed seppuku. But I didn't!
Then something else happened!
And then something else!
I have been Going Through It for the last few weeks, and last night my body kind of gave up on me. I got mysteriously sick (?) and as I mentioned earlier, I was not able to function at all today. I am better right now, but I still feel very poopy. I could not get everything done and that makes me sad, but at least I was forced to rest for a whole day. I had to give up some things that I was so sure I could get done for Level Up but hopefully I can get everything ready by Friday afternoon.
I'd write a better ending for this but I need to lay down. Meow!
