Entry 002. Newsflash: this isn't as simple as I had thought (but it's fine)

Wow! Such progress!

Interaction system

The interaction system is mostly done. I have to make the text appear on-screen in a widget so that you know which elements are interactable,  but I genuinely just forgot how it worked while I was doing it, so I will be adding that soon enough.

To make interactions possible, you trigger a raytrace (something something don't even ask me what ray tracing is please is it a verb is it a noun idk) and if you're in the line of vision, well then, the interaction happens. At first, I had it bound to the camera, so it had some issues. That works if you're in a first person game, since the camera is always looking directly at the objects you are looking at, however for my game you can make Dulce face left and right while the camera is still facing forward, so sometimes it just did not work. To fix it, I just changed the start and end of the ray trace to the arrows that I use to cast attacks, and now you can interact with objects from anywhere -as long as theyre close enough!

The interaction I tested is to change the material of the object, which is very COOL! Now I will make things glow when you interact with them and other really cute stuff.

Working on the model

As for Dulce's final model, it's still a work in progress. The good thing is... They have arrived at substance painter!

They are now in a T-pose. I know that A-posing leads to more natural rigs, which is why they were originally in that pose, but the clothes meshes collided in unfortunate ways, so I was advised to change the pose. I was trying to rig it, but some Inconveniences came out, so I am currently waiting for a professor's feedback about how to do it in the best way.

At first, the textures were simply going to be blocks of colour, but it looked too plain, so I started to experiment with a more hand-painted style, like what you can see in the image. I think it looks even more adorable!

Going back to rigging, I also started sketching out some of the poses that I will need the character to do, to make sure that the rig works well for what I have planned. Don't look at them too much, they're still very sketchy.

Besides all that, I also started doing my asset list. Which is top-secret content. (I haven't finished it)

I have some level sketches, so while I get everything together for the Dulce rig, I will get onto blockouts very soon.
