Entry 009. Cool things

10 days until Level Up, which is where I will officially showcase my game for the first time! I have my stickers and my mini 3D printed Dulce, as well as a bunny ears headband that I am customising to add the jackalope antlers. I want to print a small poster and more cool stuff for the event.

I've been working a lot, but I think I'm very close to absolutely requiring a longer break. I'm always exhausted, but it's the last few days grinding before I get some rest.

Attack VFX

I'm finally doing the attack effects! I think they look pretty cool. I had to change the way the enemy's attack worked -it is no longer a sphere that encompasses the damage area, but a line trace. This way, it only deals damage in the area around the effect, and it makes it feel more intuitive and fair.

This is like the worst picture ever but it's so hard to screenshot the effects.

It's still not all done, I'll still ask for some feedback from my professor before I can call it finalised. I'm having a lot of fun working with Niagara systems and doing funky shiny things.

3D Assets

A friend is helping me out with some assets! Bless his heart, he's doing an amazing work that y'all will be seeing soon.

On my side, I've been doing the Super Special Locations of the game. Here's a sneak peek of the cave!

The pictures on the wall light up as you walk towards them, it looks incredibly whimsy and magical. This is part of the original ideas that I had, and I'm so happy it looks so cool! I am aware that I don't have as much time, but I want to get the game to a playable and nice state, even if not finished, for April 10.

Music

Music is finally done! It's amazing. Thank you so much to Renzo for working with me to create the soundtrack of this game. He fully understood the assignment and he captured the game's vibes so well, I'm so so so happy with everything! You will most likely be hearing little snippets from the music in a little teaser I want to make, if I don't overwork myself and like. Die.

I'm genuinely so amazed at his work. He's an incredibly skilled composer and I'm so lucky he accepted to work with me for another project. Please check out his stuff and just!!! Wow!!! Admire it all!!!

UI

Besides doing VFX, I have been working on fixing the UI! I'm making the journal, and I'm getting some help from my friend to do little 2D animations to tell the story :) He is also helping me with some of the design parts of the game, like the new cover that I have on itch! It will all look so pretty.

The saving system is a lost cause. I may have to take it away for the showcase and I'll fix it later -it's not that necessary for that day either way. People will not have the time to play it for too long.

There are a lot of things left to do, but I'm still mostly optimistic about it all. Wish me good luck!
